Our volunteer recruitment process aims to provide applicants with the information they need to find the right volunteer role for them.
It also reflects the significance of our volunteers and ensures we meet our obligations in matching volunteers to roles within our organisation.
Our volunteer recruitment process is:
Expression of Interest
If you are interested in volunteering with MND Victoria email volunteer@mnd.org.au to start to explore options.
The Volunteer Engagement Team will contact you to discuss volunteering with MND Victoria and an application pack will be sent to you.
When MND Victoria requires volunteers for specific roles, they will be advertised here: current volunteer opportunities and on our social media channels.
Interviews
After you submit your volunteer application, the next step is an interview to explore available roles and find a role that matches your skills, experience and availability.
Volunteer Pre-commencement checks
Prospective volunteers are required to complete a number of screening checks:
- Referee checks
- NDIS worker screening or police check (MND Victoria covers the cost of the required National Police Check).
If you have lived overseas for 12 months or more in the past 10 years an International Police Check is also required.
Volunteer Induction
If your application is successful you will complete MND Victoria’s Volunteer Induction - introducing you to key information and policies to enable you to begin volunteering with MND Victoria with confidence.
Volunteer Induction is compulsory for all new volunteers, regardless of the program you are volunteering in.
Role Specific Training
You may also have additional training to prepare you for your specific role.
Other programs teach volunteers "on-the-job".
To keep volunteers informed and up to date MND Victoria asks all volunteers to attend at least one other training/meeting during the year.
Start Volunteering
Once all the above are complete, you will be welcomed to your role.
